Flood Disaster in Oromia😥

The citizens displaced by the flooding of the Awash River in South West Shawaa and West Shawaa regions have been urged to continue their assistance.

The Awash River has flooded and displaced many people in Iluu and Sabbataa Hawaas districts of South West Shawaa region as well as Ejeree, Ejersa Lafoo and Walmara districts of West Shawaa region.

Residents said some villages were completely submerged and they could not retrieve any property. He said large properties were washed away by the floods, livestock were in danger of dying and houses and farms were completely destroyed.

He said they are in dire straits due to the rainy summer and need immediate assistance. He said some parties have started providing assistance to them, but this assistance is not equal to the number of displaced people. He called on the government, aid agencies, the public and donors to help.
